How to Draw ellipse by rectangle method

Draw Ellipse by Rectangle Method

The Video shows the step by step method to draw ellipse by Rectangle method.

Steps to draw ellipse of major axis 100 mm and minor axis 70 mm by rectangle method

1. Draw rectangle of 100 mm x 70 mm and mark it as PQRS

2. Draw 2 axis lines at the centre and mark the intersection points as ABCD

2.  To draw curve in the left top quarter of the rectangle
Divide the line AQ into 4 equal parts and mark it as 1,2,3 & 4
3.  Divide the line AO onto 4 equal parts and mark it as 1', 2', 3' & 4'
4.  From the point C, draw lines C1, C2, and C3.
5.  From point D, draw line through points 1' till it meet the line C1 and mark this intersecting point as P1.
6.   From point D, draw line through points 2' till it meet the line C2 and mark this intersecting point as P2.
7.  Repeat this procedure for C3 and mark the point P3.
8.  Now draw the quarter of the ellipse by joining the points A, P1, P2, P3 and D.
9.  Repeat this procedure in the other quarters of the rectangle to complete the ellipse.

Draw parabola by tangent method

Draw Parabola by Tangent Method

The Video shows the step by step method to draw a Parabola by tangent method.

Step by Step Method to draw a Parabola of base length 100mm and height 55mm by tangent method

1.  Draw base line AB of length 100 mm

2.  Draw Perpendicular line of length 110 mm ( 2 times the height of parabola ) and mark it as OC

3.  Draw lines CA and CB

4.  Divide the line CA and CB into any equal parts ( 8 equal parts here ) and mark it as 1,2.....8 and in opposite order.

5.  Draw lines connecting the same numbers on both sides.

6.  Draw the parabola curve by drawing tangents to the bottom most lines.

Draw tangent and normal to ellipse

Redraw and dimension as per BIS

Draw ellipse by concentric circle method

Draw regular pentagon with side length given

Construct a Regular Pentagon of side 40 mm

The Video shows the step by step method to draw a Regular Pentagon

Step by step guide to draw Regular Pentagon

1.  Draw line AB of length 40 mm ( first side of the Pentagon ABCDE )
2.  Draw circle with B as center and AB as radius- ( Ist circle )
3.  Draw another circle with A as center and AB as radius ( 2nd circle )
4.  Mark the points P & Q at the intersection points of the two circles
5.  Draw line PQ and extend towards up
6.  Draw circle with Q as center and QA or QB as radius ( 3rd circle )
7.  Mark the points F & G at the intersection points of the circles
8.  Mark the point S at the point of intersection of the circle with line PQ
9.  Draw line FS and extend till it intersect with the 2nd circle
10.Mark the point of intersection as C
11.Draw line BC ( 2nd side of the Pentagon )
12.Pick the length of line AB in compass and mark the point on the extended part of line PQ
13.Mark this point as D
14.Draw line CD ( 3rd side of the Pentagon )
15.Draw line GS and extend till it intersect with the Ist circle
16.Mark the point of intersection as E
17.Draw line DE ( 4th side of the Pentagon )
18.Draw line EA ( 5th side of the Pentagon )
19.Now you have drawn the Pentagon ABCDE of side length 40 mm

Draw ellipse by eccentricity method

 Draw Parabola by Eccentricity Method.

The Video shows the step by step method to draw an ellilpse by eccentricity method

Step by Step method to draw an ellipse of eccentricity 2:3 and distance of focus from directrix 50 mm

1. Draw vertical line AB as directrix

2. Draw horizontal line perpendular to AB and mark the intersecting point as C

3. Mark the point F on the horizontal line , at a distance 50 mm( focus )from the point C

4.  Divide CF into 5 equal parts ( 2+3=5 is from eccentric ratio 2:3 )

5. Mark the point 2 from focus F as V i.e. Vertex ( 2 from eccentric ratio 2:3)

6.  Draw a verical line through the point V.

7.  Mark a point E on this line so that VF=VE

8.  Draw an angular line from point C through point E

9.  Mark points 1,2......6... on horizontal line and approximately at distance of 10 mm in between points.

10. Draw vertical lines through these points towards both sides of horizontal line and meet the angular line.

11.  Mark the lntersecting points on the angular linescas 1', 2'....... 6'....

12.  Take the distance of 1-1' in the compass and mark an arc on the line 1-1' on both sudes with F as center

13.  Take the distance of 2-2' in the compass and mark an arc on the line 2-2' on both sudes with F as center

14. Repeat this procedure on all other lines to get all the points of ellipse.

15.  Mark these marked points as P1, P2,....P6...

16.  Draw a smooth curve through these points to complete the Ellipse.
